Swine flu…”When pigs fly”

September 25th, 2009

Here we go again folks…remember the smallpox media blitz after 9/11 touting a significant biological warfare threat?  Followed up by the Anthrax scare?  Well let’s start there before we dive into the “swine flu.”

Okay take a look at this statement straight from the CDC website:

In June 2001, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) made recommendations for using smallpox (vaccinia) vaccine to protect persons working with orthopoxviruses and to prepare for and respond to a possible terrorist attack involving smallpox (Source) Read the rest of this entry »

I usually start off my day by checking out what’s the latest in the health news world and stumbled across this very interesting article regarding “mercury” dental amalgams.  The FDA came out with a report this past Tuesday stating that dental amalgams are safe to be in human bodies.  Much controversy has erupted over the issue of mercury in our environment and it’s alleged harmful effects upon our bodies.  There was even a lawsuit in 2006 where Moms Against Mercury sued the FDA wanting them to remove mercury from the US market.

Here’s my critique on this whole situation: Read the rest of this entry »

‘Generation RX’ addresses many of the alarming issues surrounding the growing use of ADHD drugs, antidepressants, and anti-psychotic medications among children and teenagers worldwide.

‘For decades, scores of doctors, government officials, journalists, and others have extolled the benefits of psychiatric medicines for children,’ said Miller, the film’s writer and producer. ‘Generation RX unveils ‘the rest of the story’ and explains how this era of unprecedented change in Western culture really occurred — and what price has been paid by society.’ Read the rest of this entry »

Cholesterol has become a buzz word in the health care arena. Turn on the TV and you’ll see commercials for cholesterol lowering medications. Talk to your friends and they’ll probably tell you that they have high cholesterol and their doctor is treating it with a statin drug (go ahead, think about it. You probably have some friends or relatives diagnosed with high cholesterol).

We’re being duped! A lie is a lie, even if the truth is being stretched. The word cholesterol has somehow, with the help of media, become a bad chemical. Now Cheerios© claim to help “lower cholesterol.” Let’s look at the whole picture here.

Let’s face the facts. We Americans are getting larger by the second.

Some statistics, implicating both the food industry and the government as co-creating factors in the obesity epidemic, include:

  • In 2002, consumers spent $174 billion on processed foods.
  • 90 percent of foods marketed each year are processed foods.
  • Last year, 2,800 new candies, desserts, ice-cream, and snacks were introduced to the marketplace, compared to 230 new fruits or vegetable products.
  • The food industry spends $34 billion per year marketing their products.
  • $12 billion is spent marketing to children.

The food industry is quick to point out that the choice is always yours — they’re not making you buy something you don’t want. They also want to blame the obesity problem on people’s unwillingness to exercise.
